I had an incredible birthday weekend. It started Saturday morning with coffee and the whole packed up and headed out to Kinston. (Will post on that later.) We ate lunch at the Boiler Room and explored the town.
We chose Kinston because Vivian Howard is one of my favorites. I am an avid PBS viewer and I’ve watched every episode of “A Chef’s Life” multiple times. It was fun to witness the places I have seen on TV in real life. We have been talking about going for a while now and finally made the trip. You should absolutely go to the Boiler Room. When you do, you must order their bacon/bourbon concoction.
In all honesty, you can’t go wrong with anything that you order off of their menu. We ate, we danced (they have an awesome playlist), and it was the perfect first stop on my birthday.
Mike and I will tell you about all of the other glorious places in Kinston in a separate post. But I spent the rest of the day with friends, had Sunday lunch with my mom and sister, and got to hang with the awesome people of Soul Church at 42 & Lawrence in Downtown Raleigh.
I appreciate all the calls, messages, videos, and overwhelming love sent my way. You all are so encouraging. This weekend was a great start to the new year.
